                                                                   HIGH LANDS

I spent the whole day today at Tagaytay Highlands, in Cavite City. It is a posh country club in a sloppy area of Tagaytay City, surrounded by luscious greeneries (mostly pine trees!) and had a captivating view of the Taal Lake. Tagaytay Highlands is a membership only access country club with many amenities that would surely make a family day worthwhile and funfilled. There are many things to do when you are in Tagaytay Highlands. First among these things is of course the very famous cable car ride, where you’ll be treated with a nice view of the surrounding area via a cable car that brings you to the highest peak of the Highland Peaks. The ride is slow and yet you’ll be delighted to see the scenic view on a bird’s eye view perspective

                                                                   MOUNT TAAL

With an altitude of 2,250 feet above sea level, Tagaytay City enjoys a cool climate all year round. This city perched on a ridge is located in the province of Cavite, some 56 kilometers south of Manila. It overlooks Manila Bay on the north, Taal Lake and Taal Volcano on the south, Laguna Bay on the east and the China Sea on the west. The city is linked to the Metropolitan Manila and the province of Batangas by the Aguinaldo Highway.

Among its attractions is the Tagaytay Picnic Grove where one can get an unobstructed view of Taal Volcano, which lies within a lake. Taal Volcano, which rises 406 meters from the lake, is reputedly the world’s smallest volcano.

Taal Lake itself is an immense body of water formed when the old crater collapsed and the walls of the larger volcano caved in and sank.

A visit to the Volcano Island can be arranged through the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology in Quezon City which maintains a monitoring station on the island.

For visiting tourists, support facilities are readily available in this idyllic city. Tagaytay is the “sister” city of Las Vegas and Nevada, U.S.A; Tainan City, Taiwan; and Bankstown City, New South Wales, Australia.

                                                                         PARADIZOO

Paradizoo is a farm theme park in Tagaytay which we learned is the property of owners of Zoobic in Zambales. The 10 hectares property is the home of various farm animals, such as goats (there’s hundreds of them), one-humped camels, miniature horses (perfect for toddler who wants to experience their first horse-back riding, some ostriches (though not as pretty as those found in Zoobic and Avilon Zoo, native carabaos, wild pigs, bees, ducks, and one-colored peacocks.

To get around Paradizoo, you may opt to take the golf cart. But if you’re looking for a little exercise, touring the property by foot is also a breeze. Just make sure it did not rain the previous night since the road may get muddy when it rained.

One attraction of Paradizoo is the Infinity Pond of Positivism where a mini-pavilion lies on the center. I didn’t get to take a good shot of the pond because during that time, there were two guests who were having fun fishing. (duh!)
